Respect and sportsmanship
- Treat all players, spectators and guests with courtesy and respect
- Show good sportsmanship at all times - whether you win or lose
- Avoid disruptive behaviour such as taunting, gloating or unsportsmanlike comments
Fair play
- Play by the rules and uphold the integrity of the game
- Do not engage in cheating, collusion or unsanctioned assistance during games
Inclusivity and anti-discrimination
- We welcome players of all ages, abilities and backgrounds
- Discrimination, harassment or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated
- Language or behaviour that makes others feel unwelcome or unsafe is prohibited
Club property and venue etiquette
- Treat all club property, chess sets and the venue with care and consideration
- Clean up after yourself and help keep the venue tidy
- Follow any additional rules set by the venue
Junior members and safeguarding
- Junior members are expected to follow the same rules of conduct as adults
- Adults should behave as positive role models and follow safeguarding best practices
- Any concerns should be reported immediately to a club officer or safeguarding lead
